Having a baby is one of the most miraculous things that you will do in your life. There will be so many highs, but there may also be some challenging times. Working on your mindset, will set you up for a smooth transition and will leave you enjoying the process a whole lot more.
So what is your mindset?
“A persons usual attitude or mental state is his or her’s mindset”
There are many easy ways to create a healthy and positive mindset, some of which you might be aware of but not practise on a daily basis. These include:
Self Talk
A lot of women, especially after having a baby, will talk/think negatively about themselves. This in itself causes a negative mindset and can be very damaging. Instead of using negative self talk, flip it around and talk about the positive parts of yourself. If you are wanting to get back into shape or change something about yourself, then do this in a positive way. You can do this easily by setting up goals, instead of attacking yourself, do positive things like exercise or healthy eating.
Friends
Surround yourself with like-minded people who make you strive to be the best version of yourself. If you surround yourself with negative people who make you feel bad about yourself then maybe you need to make a few changes.
Daily Rituals
Daily rituals are things that you do for yourself each and everyday. They give you time to feed your body and soul, thus helping you on your journey to create a positive mindset.
Journalling
Exercise
Listening to music
Yoga Meditation
Podcasts
Reading
These are just a few ideas on what you could do to create your own daily rituals. You can do any of these or just pick a few and do them everyday.
Comfort Zone
We all like living within our comfort zone so that we don’t feel that horrible uncomfortable feeling. However, when you push yourself out of your comfort zone you will challenge yourself, this in itself will make you feel alive again. As a new mum, you probably feel pretty restricted and frustrated that you can’t do what you used to do, make an effort and get back into what you used to enjoy, even try out a few new things.
Small Steps
Whenever you are trying to achieve new goals or improve yourself, do it in small increments. You can’t create a positive mindset instantly or get the results you are needing. Take small steps everyday and plug away at your goal.
Emotions
When you are in the moment and you feel
like your emotions are getting the better of you, this is the time to take a step back. By taking a step back you can give some thought into what you actually want to happen and not just react. You will find that the end result that you are striving for is achieved a lot easier without causing friction. Living with a positive mindset makes life so much more fun. You will notice that you appreciate the small things more and that you can actually accomplish the things that you want to achieve.
