Hi my name is Cheryl, I am a qualified midwife now working as a maternity nurse and living in Yorkshire. My hobbies include reading, walking, travelling and spending time with my family and friends.

I have extensive training, education and experience working with parents and their newborn babies. I am organised, resourceful and I possess excellent communication skills. I am a compassionate, non-judgemental, dedicated person, who loves working with new mums.

Over my 20 years midwifery and maternity nursing career, I have had the privilege of caring for hundreds of parents and their babies. I love nurturing relationships between parents, families and their newborn babies.

I am passionate about delivering holistic care based on evidential research, empowering parents to make informed choices and fully supporting their parenting decisions.

As a mum myself I am aware of the importance for mums to rest and recuperate following childbirth and in the early postnatal period. I enjoy working with new families, offering guidance and practical and emotional support.

I thoroughly enjoy living and working within the household environment, allowing me to build relationships and provide professional one to one maternity care.

My own children are now living independently, allowing me the flexibility to pursue my career as a maternity nurse, working nationwide and overseas.

I am fully insured and have an enhanced DBS, a current paediatric first aid certificate, full driving licence and excellent references.

"Happy Mum Equals Happy BABY"

The clients that Cheryl has are predominantly new parents who require support and guidance following the birth of their baby. Cheryl is able to meet clients as soon as they are discharged from the hospital and is an expert at helping the baby/ babies settle in their new homes. Cheryl has a wide range of clients from single parents, same sex parents, surrogates, first time parents and new parents who need to return work shortly after the birth. In a nutshell, Cheryl helps any new parent who is in need of professional help and support with their new baby.

One of the most important values which Cheryl adheres to, is that each client is unique and no situation is the same. Parents have different styles of parenting and different routines and schedules they set, which is why she needs to be able to adapt to all of this. There are also health issues that need to be taken into consideration, such as postnatal depression. In order to do this, Cheryl takes into account the needs of the client and ensures that both herself and the clients are both on the same page.

It is key that Cheryl provides the best possible service to every single one of her clients. Client satisfaction is something that is massively important to Cheryl, and the endless positive testimonials both on the website and on Facebook are proof that the service she offers is an excellent one.

"Cheryl is a wonderful, kind, intelligent lady who genuinely enjoys her job and adores babies. One thing that really stood out about Cheryl is her professionalism. She takes her work very seriously, is incredibly organised, hygienic and cautious but also knows how to have fun and always put a smile on my face even during the most tricky times of having a newborn. Other characteristics that were super important to me were that Cheryl is trustworthy, honest and loyal. She worked really well with the full time nanny that we have for our eldest and handed over all her knowledge and tips to her. I trusted her implicitly with my baby and never had any doubt that he was in great hands. I knew she would always do what was best for him. We would absolutely highly recommend Cheryl as a maternity nurse to any family in the future she is such a gem and a true blessing for parents with a new baby."

"Cheryl is highly competent. Her substantial experience in infant care brings a quiet confidence which I am sure all her clients find very reassuring. As important, Cheryl displays an extremely approachable and friendly personality, is very kind, genuine, trustworthy and warm hearted. Cheryl settled immediately and discreetly into our home environment and created space for myself and my wife to have personal time. Our new born was enchanted by Cheryl’s empathy and approach. They shared conversations, dialogues, songs and sounds. I believe this contributed to the trust, comfort and rapport our daughter built quickly with Cheryl from the outset. To me, the real test of a personal reference is whether I would employ the person again in the future, or refer them to my close friends and family, and in the case of Cheryl I can say that I absolutely would. In short, I unreservedly recommend Cheryl for any maternity nurse role, across any range of cultures, and geographies."

"Not only was Cheryl an amazing maternity nurse but she also built up a good rapport with our older daughter. Cheryl always included her with baby duties such as feeding, nappy changes etc. She spent quality time with her, encouraging her to play and bond with her baby sister and crucially avoiding any sibling rivalry. Cheryl has many positive qualities including a calm and confident manner, she is super organised and is flexible to meet our family’s needs. It was lovely having Cheryl as our maternity nurse, not only for our baby but for the whole family. I highly recommend her to any family looking for a loving, kind, supportive and experienced maternity nurse."

Benefits of a Night Nanny/ Night Maternity Nurse
Having an experienced night nanny nurse gives parents an opportunity to be able to rest and sleep overnight. The night nanny usually shares a room with the baby. The night nanny can feed and settle the baby and undertake all the usual baby cares. If the mother is breastfeeding, the night nanny is available to support mums breastfeeding. Whether helping mum with positioning and attachment, or simply ensuring that mum is well hydrated and comfortable whilst feeding her baby.

Night Nanny/ Night Maternity Nurse Booking Process
Ideally it is best to book a night nanny as soon as possible. A night nanny can be booked to arrive shortly after mum and baby arrive home from the hospital. Allowing mum time to rest and recover from childbirth. However we often receive enquiries from parents whose baby is already a few weeks old and the parents are struggling with sleep deprivation or maybe the mother is struggling with breastfeeding and has sore nipples or mastitis. There are many reasons why after a few weeks at home, parents decide that they would like to book a night nanny. Maternity Mum are trained and equipped to be able to offer emergency night maternity nurses for parents looking for respite, if availability allows. In addition if mums are having any breastfeeding issues such as sore nipples or mastitis, Cheryl is also available to offer a remote consultation for troubleshooting.

Night Nanny/ Night Maternity Nurse General Information
Night maternity nurses can work up to 12 hours per night from 7 pm to 7 am. To help get the baby into a good routine at night. This also gives parents the opportunity to be able to go out for a date night or simply have a peaceful, undisturbed meal at home. Some parents find this time valuable as they are able to spend quality time with their older children, maybe bath and story time.

Alternatively you can book a night maternity nurse typically for 8 - 10 hours per night. Typically to arrive at 9/10 pm and leave at 6/7 am. This will allow parents to be able to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Night maternity nurses can work up to 6 nights per week and contracts can be booked from 1 week to 6 months. Some parents choose to have a night maternity nurse for just 2 or 3 nights a week.
